Holy Resurrection Serbian Orthodox Cathedral in Chicago announced today that it has established a special endowment, the Saint Nicholas Fund, for the sole purpose of helping people in need. Initial funding for the Saint Nicholas Fund for People in Need came from a generous $20,000 donation from one of our parishioners. The Fund will allow the Cathedral community to respond in the spirit of Christian charity and love to the countless pleas for assistance it receives throughout the year from individuals who face various misfortunes.
As we approach the Advent Season and prepare for the Feast of Christ’s Nativity, in which our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ demonstrates His charity towards mankind by coming to dwell among us, we call upon our faithful parishioners and people of goodwill to support the Saint Nicholas Fund for People in Need in order to allow us to show our brothers and sisters confronted by adversity that they are loved.
