Endowing your legacy

Saint Nicholas Endowment Fund

This Endowment Fund was established for the sole purpose of helping people in need. Initial funding for the Saint Nicholas Fund for People in Need came from a generous $20,000 donation from one of our parishioners. The Fund will allow the Cathedral community to respond in the spirit of Christian charity and love to the countless pleas for assistance it receives throughout the year from individuals who face various misfortunes. In the spirit of charity, additional donors have since contributed and the endowment value has grown to almost $36,000.

This endowment was named after St. Nicholas of Myra and Lycia, a great saint of our Holy Orthodox Church from the fourth Century. Saint Nicholas is the protector of travelers and the poor. A great wealth St. Nicholas inherited from his parents, he distributed to the needy. During his entire service as a bishop, the main goal of his ministry was to help those less fortunate. This was the motivating force behind the founder of this endowment fund, who wishes to remain anonymous. Thus, the donor fulfilled the words of our Lord, which He uttered in His sermon on the Mount: “But when you do a charitable deed, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing, that your charitable deed may be in secret; and your Father who sees in secret, will Himself reward you openly. “ (Mt 6:3)
